The vision of "Voice of Faith Network" was launched by James "Jim" Layton in April 1981 with a televison program "Adventure in Faith".

In April 1984 VOFN opened a television production studio in Apex, NC. This studio served the Apex, Cary area until 2002 as Victory Televison Network (VTN).

Originally VTN produced a few hours of television programs for the local cable company in the evenings hosted by local pastors and ministries. November 1984 VTN was asked to begin broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which it did until 2002. VTN produced and broadcast as many as 50 programs per week during this time. VTN developed affiliate relationships with 8 of the national Christian television networks broadcasting over 18 hours per day of key programs from these networks as part of our ministry.

In 1989 VTN built and operated WACN-TV (low-power tv station) serving Apex, Cary, Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs and Morrisville. Later VTN would build and operated 3 additional low-power televison stations in Durham, Raleigh and Wilson.

Lighthouse Communications was organized in June 1995 as a North Carolina non-profit corporation and was classified by the Internal Revenue Service a 501(c)(3) public supported foundation. Lighthouse Communications (LC) purchased the assets of Victory Television Network in 1997.

LC sold the last of the television stations in June of 2002 and opened Lighthouse Convention Center. The name of the non-profit corporation was changed to Lighthouse Christian Foundation (LCF) in 2004 to reflect the diverse ministry of the
foundation. LCF operated affiliate services under Lighthouse Communications, Lighthouse Convention Center and formed Lighthouse Gospel Music Association in 2003 to promote local gospel singers.

VOFN incorporated the name "Voice of Faith Network" as a religious and charitable non-profit organization on August 22, 2012 and is classified as such by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3)section170.

September 1, 2012 VOFN began internet television broadcasting on VOFN-TV channel via streaming video on the world-wide-web. VOFN-TV began broadcasting in high-definition in February 2013.

VOFN is "Committed to Your Spiritual, Physical and Financial Growth".

VOFN continues to seek innovative ways to serve the Christian community to reach the world with the Good News of the saving and cleansing power of God through His, Son Jesus Christ.
